Expressiones Cultural Center invites you to share your art and talents and gain new perspective on your artistic journey while living in the community of New London, Connecticut, USA. New London is an old New England city with a glorious waterfront, a rich cultural scene and fascinating historic sites.
Oriented to visual artists, this Artist in Residence Program provides the selected participant with a furnished living/work space for a duration of two months. During this time the participant will have the opportunity to interact with local artists and is expected to contribute culturally to the community, thereby enriching their own personal and public artistic experience. This cultural contribution may be in the form of a community workshop, classes, etc. The participant is also given a solo exhibition in the main gallery of Expressiones. This exhibition will be subject to approval by the gallery and supported by a curatorial discourse.
Applications for our Artist in Residence Program are accepted in an ongoing basis throughout the year.
Expressiones wants to promote the Latin American Culture in all its manifestations by introducing the citizens of southeastern Connecticut to its music, art, and customs. The purpose of the Cultural Center as set forth in its articles of incorporation is exclusively educational in nature. * Expressiones Cultural Center Inc. is a non-for-profit organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and your donation is fully deductible as provided by law. Expressiones rely most heavily on the contributions from foundation grants, which are: Frank Loomis Palmer Foundation, Connecticut Office of the Arts, Puffins Foundation, National Endowment for the Arts, Community Foundation, Bodenwein Foundation, James & Mary Perpetual Trust, Griffis Foundation.
