You’re invited to a special artist talk & lecture American Stories: A Conversation with Mattias Lundblad Saturday, January 24 · 11:00 AM Expressiones Cultural Center Join us for a compelling lecture by photographer Mattias Lundblad, presented in conjunction with his exhibition American Stories. Drawing from years of work as a photojournalist and documentary photographer, Lundblad will speak about images that explore migration, identity, belonging, and the ever-evolving idea of America. Through photographs made at the U.S.–Mexico border, intimate portraits of writers and musicians, scenes of political tension, everyday life, and moments of quiet natural beauty, Lundblad invites us to reflect on a nation continually in motion—shaped by those who arrive, stay, resist, create, and imagine themselves into it. As an immigrant from Sweden, Lundblad brings a unique perspective that is both participatory and observational, standing inside American communities while maintaining the distance needed to see them clearly. His talk will offer insight into his process, his relationship to these stories, and the questions that continue to guide his work. Free and open to the public. We invite artists, students, educators, and community members to join us for this thoughtful morning conversation. Come listen, reflect, and sit with the complexity of American Stories.
