Please join David Schulz and Expressiones for an intimate artist talk and exhibition of his latest project: Relotía…Letario…Loteria, a poetic and visual exploration born from his recent artist residency in Guadalajara, Mexico.
Inspired by the traditional Mexican game of chance La Lotería, this body of work pairs verbal riddles (los dichos) with iconic photographic imagery, inviting viewers to reflect on how language shapes perception. Each piece is a dialogue between word and image—between what is said and what is seen.
This project began during David’s residency as part of Expressiones and hosted by artists José Luis Malo and Verónica Ximénez in Guadalajara, Mexico, last July and marks the first public presentation of this evolving series. On view are pigment print diptychs (12 x 16” each), where the left frame holds the riddle, and the right its photographic counterpart.
David Schulz is an artist-educator based in New London County, Connecticut. His work has been exhibited and collected internationally. He is also a member of the ABC Artists’ Books Collective.
