Join us for the final presentation of our current Artist-in-Residence, Ixel Orozco Peregrina, on Friday, October 23, at 6:00 PM. During her residency at Expressiones, Ixel has continued her long-standing exploration of the relationships between art, ecology, traditional knowledge, and community. Working in dialogue with the local environment and drawing from accessible natural materials, she has created a monumental puppet that reflects her ongoing artistic practice and her deep engagement with craft-based and environmentally conscious forms of making. Based in Guadalajara, Mexico, Ixel is a multidisciplinary artist and designer whose work spans sculpture, installation, object art, and puppetry. Her creations often transform natural and found materials into evocative forms that invite reflection on our relationship with landscape, memory, and collective experience. Through projects such as Armadilla Animal, she has developed large-scale performative sculptures that merge artistic expression with community participation. This presentation offers the public an opportunity to learn about Ixel's creative process, the research behind her residency, and the development of the giant puppet created during her time at Expressiones. We invite the community to join us for an evening of conversation, artistic discovery, and celebration. Free and open to the public.
