Verónica Ximénez: Ritual Forms Solo Exhibition at Expressiones Cultural Center Opening September 27, 2025 Curated by Guido Garaycochea In her return to Expressiones as artist-in-residence, Verónica Ximénez brings forth a body of work that deepens and expands her visual language. Known for her evocative paintings that pulse with abstraction and emotional resonance, Ximénez now introduces us to a new dimension of her practice: ceramics. This solo exhibition presents a selection of her recent paintings alongside a striking debut of her ceramic work—an exploration that is both intimate and transformative. The ceramic pieces, shaped in utilitarian forms, are not merely vessels but portals. Painted and fired through what she describes as a “ceremonial process,” these objects transcend their function to become living extensions of her painterly universe. Each ceramic form carries the imprint of ritual: the act of shaping, painting, and firing becomes a choreography of intention. The kiln, in this context, is not just a tool but a sacred space where transformation occurs. The result is a series of abstract creatures—seductive in their beauty, enigmatic in their presence—that blur the boundaries between painting and sculpture, utility and art, tradition and innovation. Ximénez’s work invites us to witness the evolution of an artist who continues to challenge and redefine her own creative limits. Her ceramics do not abandon the language of her paintings; rather, they translate it into a new medium, one that holds the memory of fire, earth, and gesture. These pieces speak to a continuity of spirit—a devotion to process, to material, and to the unseen forces that guide artistic creation. We are honored to host Verónica once again at Expressiones, and to share this moment of transformation with our community. Her work reminds us that art is not static—it is alive, evolving, and always capable of surprising us. Guido Garaycochea Curator, Expressiones Cultural Center
